Art from the Heart

We all have many faces,

Remember, never judge a person by their cover, otherwise you may miss out on a good friend....

Discover their soul and you may have a friend for life,

I like to take care of my outside, stay fit, interested in fashion, but most of all taking care of my heart and soul, because without our heart and soul, there is no life.

I feed my soul with the people that I feel happy with, music, books, travel, art, running on a rainy day, sun, surf.....

I hope you feel my positive energy and soul I put into my art......from me to you....

Without our heart, there is no life.
I have a message I would like to share:
Love what you do,
Love who you are,
Love the people close to your Heart,

That's Life - Simple

About the Artist

Who am I?

I am a full time artist from Auckland, New Zealand and have been living in Stockholm since 1995.   I am a mother of 3 who always gets a lot of energy from my art......and in return I have more energy for my children. I like to work with 100% passion to what I do and I recharge my energy with training and yoga.  I've been doing ashtanga yoga for 18 years.  My first class I took when I was 20 in Auckland, New Zealand. I love the feeling of balance and harmony I get after each yoga class.  I like to continuously remind myself to keep that balance of mental training, physical training, time with my children and I feel very previledged that I can work with my lifetime passion.....art and helping needy children.  I have attended various art courses in Sweden and New Zealand but am primarily a self-taught artist who captures my inspiration from various sources described below.  Remember inspiration is all around you....if you are open to see it.  My art is described as vibrant, full of life, passion and energy.

A lot of my inspiration comes from my daily life, places I've travelled to around the world and especially from New Zealand.  I use the Paua shell a lot in my art, I feel that using the mixed media of Paua shell from New Zealand, glass mosaic from Venice gives the painting a more lively feeling and enables me to express the positive energy I have that I want to share with people. The Paua shell shifts in colour a lot depending on what colour you use against it. It has blue, green, gold, brown, purple shades in it.  For me it represents energy from the ocean that has a powerful effect on us in a positive way.  I have many happy memories of beach holidays when growing up in New Zealand so for me using Paua in my art has so much more meaning to it than just a shell.

The meaning of the Paua shell is that it has energies that are protectional and provides emotional balance.

The Paua shell is intimately connected to the sea - represents the tides of emotion

  • An easy flow of feelings and sensitivities to others
  • Connected to family and particularly motherhood
  • Harmony in relationships
  • The play and variety of colors represent change as the beauty of existence

This combined with working with the koru symbol in my art is quite powerful.  The koru is a maori symbol which means new beginnings, new life, peace, strength and harmony.

Needless to say I feel great working with this and hope I can spread some new positive energy into peoples lives via my art.  After my dad passed away I felt I needed more emotional balance in my life and found that through my art. I hope I can help others via my art too.

I believe art can help children build up their self confidence and also help children through hard times in their life via art therapy.  I therefore support Kids Earth Fund http://www.kidsearthfund.jp/en/kids_about.html where a percentage of the sales from my Vernissage go to this cause. I am also in the process of starting up a branch for Kids Earth Fund in Sweden where I plan on having our first Kids Earth Fund Event during the autumn of 2009.  I will keep you updated with the progress of this project on my website under tag Kids Earth Fund.

I hold art courses for children between 4-12 years old in the local area where i live on Ekerö. I do this on my free time as a good cause for children as I believe art helps children build up their self confidence.

I paint from the heart with energy and feelings

I try to reach out to people and inspire them.

I like to think I add some happiness and positive energy into people’s homes.

I believe in myself and my art and it’s my way of expressing how I feel at a certain time.

I’m inspired by people I meet and places I visit around the world.

I like to paint big, with depth so you can "feel" my art.

I paint when I feel inspired, by a place I’ve visited or a person that has touched my heart, when I miss my mum in New Zealand, when my dad passed away, after my children were born, when I travel to new exciting places.

I express my feelings for people and places on canvas.

I believe the energy I put into a painting is felt by the person that invests in it.

My paintings are about life, love, feelings, energy and truth.

I put a lot of positive energy into each painting.

When a private person orders a painting I like to see where they’re going to hang it so I get a feeling for the room and that person. Then I lock myself into my studio and paint off all the energy I get from that person.

Painting is a way for me to spread my positive energy and happiness and I hope you feel that too.
